Head Start Childhood Development Program
Your support will set young children on the path to a thriving & resilient adulthood

NCO Head Start has been caring for families and children in Lake and Mendocino Counties since 1968. From Fort Bragg to Clearlake, they serve hundreds of children each year our of their 12 sites. Throughout the pandemic lock-downs, NCO Head Start offices safely kept their classrooms open continue to meet the needs of their families and serve the health, mental health, nutritional, educational needs of their children and families. Head Starts across the country have been shown to improve post-preschool outcomes, including high school completion and health outcomes, strengthen adulthood resilience, as well as increase positive parenting practices among the parents and caregivers of Head Start children. When children have a strong first few years of their lives, we all benefit. Learn More about NCO Head Start here.

Rural Communities Child Care (RCCC)
You can help Lake & Mendocino families afford stable, quality childcare

Since 1975, RCCC has been increasing access to affordable child care. The program provides child care resources and subsides for low-income families and resources and supports for independent child care providers. Behind the scenes, RCCC staff advocate at the state level on behalf of child care providers, children, and families. Parents who have access to affordable and stable child care means they are able to stay employed and spend less of their take-home income on this service. RCCC play a crucial role in fostering economic security for low and middle income families in our community. Learn more about NCO's RCCC here.
